'Scenes' Program
...NEW, starting October 22, 2000! Please refer to our message board HERE to communicate with Jon and/or Doug and/or Daryl about their Oct. 22 scenes. Borne out of a desire to see our members learn and network together--especially beginners--the ongoing 'Scenes' Program is designed to provide assistance for members to create quality scenes and shorts using only FELLOW MEMBERS in cast and crew. And in spring 2001, we will show the best scenes as part of the 2nd Annual OK IndieFest! What a great way to network and collaborate, to see what fellow members can offer and do, to practice for larger independent projects. While this may be difficult to do across the state, the benefits of camaraderie and education far outwiegh the drive-times. Who knows--you may meet and work with your future long-term big-time production partner while running through this program! As of September 2000, the program is not thoroughly structured. It is anticipated to be a very hands-off approach as far as OTFC's official involvement per scene or short; rather, each group volunteering for a scene is encouraged to function on its own to coordinate schedules, equipment, locations, budget, etc. Scenes will be provided by various OTFC screenwriter members. OTFC, however, will remain available to confirm official arrangements for certain things not otherwise available to individual scene producers (for instance, to arrange a trade of, say, website ad space for equipment.) Obviously, confirm with the Executive Committee before making any deals with outside persons or businesses!! The first scenes are being shot the evening of Sunday, October 22 in Tulsa at Hillcrest Rehab Center, 11th & Utica. The center includes a variety of false fronts and decorated sets for training physical therapy patients. Therefore, an office, kitchen, mailbox, ATM, airplane, and MORE are ready-made for close scenes. Directors can supply additional lights or portable equipment as necessary. Daryl Sykes of Yukon serves as writer/director for one scene, with partner Jon Shryock as DP. Doug Solter of Tulsa serves as writer/director for the other scene. Volunteers are still needed for grips, techs, etc., so visit our message board or online directory to find these guys and offer your assistance! More scenes & shorts will be planned for later this year! |
