Synopsis:

"BENNINGTON, 1777" fact-based historic action/drama
(WGA 1989)

In the early years of the American colonies, rumblings of revolution are keenly felt as tensions mount with British King George. Major John Stark declares that the king will have a fight on his hands if he ever tries to take the colonies. Two years later, at the king's behest, Hessians descend through Vermont into upstate New York, prompting Stark to volunteer from military retirement and lead the New England militia in defense. Stark's famous letter to his wife Molly to "Make the alarm, send more troops" instigates an amazing tale of patriotism and heroics as Molly Stark rouses a mix of Manchester residents and servants and sets out on a two-and-a-half week, 155-mile trek westward to the battlegrounds during the summer of 1777. The ensuing Battle of Bennington is a decisive turning point for what becomes the Revolutionary War.

Meticulously researched over 11 years, this character-driven fact-based script includes such historic figures as John and Mary Stark, John Burgoyne, Seth Warner, and Frances Baum. It was originally titled "Deep Red Star" to honor Molly Stark.

"I GRANDE: I LOVE YOU" historic drama (WGA 1988)

Aged Hungarian Holocaust survivor Zoltan Bela tells the story of his life to his restaurant customers. He starts the tale with his Nazi camp rescue at age 19, continuing with his return to Budapest and marriage; his loss of family to the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) while on holiday; his journey to New York city where he meets his future second wife; his despair and ongoing nightmares; his struggles to become American; his third wife.

Sweeping historic drama written in flashback style, this story was originally produced as a 3-act stage performance by the Worcester Arts Group (Massachusetts) in 1988, while its flashback story and geographic range make it a good candidate for screen.
