Bare Bones Film Festival: Founded in 1999 by Darkwood Motion Pictures Productions (now Darkwood Film Arts Institute) in Muskogee, this site focuses on the current year's festival for "bare bones" films (films costing under $1 million) and also offers highlights from prior years' festivals. This group is involved in creating, producing, co-producing, marketing, and distributing independent movies. Always on the lookout for good stories!

Crazy Fish Films: Film company being developed in 2003 to produce and distribute mainstream Christian-themed features shot in Oklahoma. Spearheaded by OTFCer Paul Tompkins in Oklahoma City.

Crested Butte "Reel Fest" Short Film Festival: Directed (unofficially!) by OTFC member Barbara VanHanken of Tulsa, the 4th Annual "Reel Fest" is scheduled August 8-12, 2001, in Colorado. It is a competitive festival focusing on films under 40 minutes in the categories of animation, comedy, drama/narrative, experimental, student, as well as films under 60 minutes in documentary. Includes useful seminars and...it's all in the mountains!

Hulett Law Firm: Tulsa-based entertainment lawyer, specializing in contract negotiations, joint ventures, business plans, etc. Joel Hulett will even help pitch projects to agencies, directors, and distributors. Also check out his production company Dolphin Bay Films.

Oklahoma City Art Museum: Home of the "Movies at the Museum" film series and ongoing arthouse screenings, the film program here is helmed by OTFC member Brian Hearn, the museum's film curator. Cap Gun Rangers: Light-hearted gunfight re-enactors located in Muskogee.

DeadCENTER Film Festival Established in 2001 by a former member, this annual festival offers a variety of categories for showcasing Oklahoma and other films from around the country.

Film Addiction Established in late 2003 as a repository for film-related items of interest to OKC resident Jayson Floyd.

Film & History Magazine: Founded in 1970 and currently edited by OSU professor Dr. Peter Rollins, this national journal is devoted to integrating visual media into the humanities, history, and literary curricula. Gene Autry Oklahoma Film & Music Festival Established in early 90's, this annual festival offers a HUGE line-up every fall. Where? In Gene Autry, OK, of course!

IAO (Individual Artists of Oklahoma):
IAO (Individual Artists of Oklahoma) is a non-profit gallery, performance space, and screening venue in Oklahoma City that presents contemporary visual and performance art in all media.  IAO's "Film and Video Series" was developed to encourage creative efforts of local film and video artists by offering regular public showings of their work. Living Arts Space: Living Arts Space is a nonprofit multi-use warehouse available for art installations, movie screenings, and other artistic performance and media in Tulsa. Home of the monthly "Video Evening" series 2001-2003 and producer of a weekly TV show featuring current artists, videos, etc.

MCA-I Oklahoma City Chapter (Media Communications Association International):
Formerly ITVA (International Tape and Video Association), MCA-I is a global community of professionals devoted to the business and art of video, film, distance learning, web design, and all forms of interactive visual communication.  MCA-I members enjoy a variety of great benefits and opportunities, including equipment rental discounts and reduced submission fees for the annual MCA-I Video Festival.  MCA-I OK chapter holds monthly meetings/programs. Native American Indian Talent & Casting Agency: NAITCA has assisted in casting Native Americans in such productions as TECUMSEH; LAST OF THE MOHICANS; WALKER, TEXAS RANGER; and more. Producers need central sources for casting and NAITCA identifies itself as one of the best! NAITCA will also register other film industry professionals.

Next Tuesday Magazine: Published by Broken Arrow-based Spinning Spyder Entertainment, this mag includes interviews and articles about indie projects inside and outside the state. Always accepting independent films for review, articles, interviews, and essays to be published.

Oklahoma Film & Video Studies Society: Founded in 2001 by OU's Dr. Andrew Horton and OSU's Dr. Peter Rollins as a statewide networking group for instructors of film & video studies.

Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Film Studies Program: Annual two-week residential school at Quartz Mountain providing pre-professional training to Oklahoma's artistically talented students, ages 14-18. Students are chosen through a competitive audition process. Intense and rigorous! Check it out...

Red Dirt Roundup (Payne County Film Festival): A weekly TV show out of Stillwater, featuring music videos by local artists, as well as various other video submissions and entertainment. Always open to new submissions and subjects as of November 2003.

Sipokni West: Old West Town near Reagan, Oklahoma, built for the use of film and television production companies with turn-of-the-century materials. Website contains photos and contact info.

Thunderbolt Entertainment: Located in Shawnee, these guys do music for films.

TulsaFilm.Com: Brain child of Tulsa filmmaker Robert Kurtz, focusing on Rose Rock Film Fest (founded in 2001.)

Tulsa Film Group: Now when you want to contact multiple film/video people, you just register on this FREE list, send out a single email, and it goes to all other registered list members. A wonderful, easy, and free way to network. Everyone involved in motion pictures in and around Tulsa could benefit from this.

Tulsa Overground Film Festival: Established in 1998, this annual fest showcases all manner of strange and interesting short pics from around the country.

Hollywood Film Festival: Sure, Hollywood represents the antithesis of indie filmmaking, but you should check out this one anyway! You may be pleasantly surprised!

Houston Pan-Cultural Film Festival: Created by Ancestral Films group in 1997, this annual community-based film festival stands on the premise that film should be accessible to everyone and that cinema bridges social and cultural boundaries. Includes international screenings, workshops, and screenwriting competition with special emphasis on Texas stories.

Imagine Cup, The: Worldwide tournament challenging the globe's best and brightest students to use technology to enhance people's lives. As of 2004, student teams representing over 70 countries will compete regionally and on-line for six months, in a range of categories, from mobile device application design to film-making. Finalists will meet in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for a gala awards ceremony. The winning teams will receive over $85,000 in prizes. The Short Film invitational, one of the four events, challenges students to make us laugh, cry, or dream in 8 minutes. We are calling on students to share their perspectives on the "culture of innovation." Submissions will be accepted from March 15 to May 1, 2004. All short film submissions will be reviewed by judges from the film industry and the top 30 will be voted online by your peers. The finalists will be flown to Sao Paulo for the finals.

MadCat Women's International Film Festival: Established in mid-90's San Francisco, Madcat is annually seeking films and videos that challenge the use of sound and image and explore notions of visual story-telling. Madcat accepts work of all genres and lengths directed by women. Films can be produced any year and about any topic.

Moondance Film Festival: International film festival for women screenwriters, playwrights, and indie filmmakers in Boulder, Colorado (USA.)

New York City Independent Horror Film Festival: First annual as of 2002, NYCIHFF seeks to bring the best of indie horror and sci-fi movie community to Tribeca Film Center in The Big Apple! Hosted by MooDude Films, the same people who graced the world with horror feature Biohazardous. All budgets, formats, and contents are accepted.

Ojai Film Festival: Based in California, Ojai Festival has a reputation for quality and integrity. Ojai tries try to focus on films that explore the human condition, teach us about ourselves, and encourage us to exert a constructive influence on the world. And they offer a supportive and enthusiastic audience for beginners! Deadlines are in spring and early summer.

Portland International Short Short (PISS) Film Fest: Established in 2002. Attention spans shorten every year. Sound bites have begot film bites and PISS Fest is there! PISS Fest celebrates the brevity longed for by Attention Deficit Disorder sufferers by showcasing the best films that clock in at 10 minutes or less! Deadlines in July.

Sedona International Film Festival & Workshop: Sponsored by Sedona Cultural Park, this springtime festival started in the mid-1990's and accepts domestic & international features, documentaries, and shorts. By the way, according to Northern Arizona University Women's Studies Program, this festival has always screened an impressive number of films by women directors.

Taos Land and Film Company: This company in neighboring New Mexico has hosted a screenwriting competition for several years now, and every year their judging panel gets more expertise; the competition gets more international recognition; and the grand prize always includes 5 acres of land near Taos PLUS an option for production of your script!

Tromadance Film Festival: Can't get into Sundance? Here's an indie-friendly alternative organized by legendary gore-schtick outfit Troma Films. They do promotions like no one else!

New Line Cinema: One of the industry's most prolific studios today.

New Regency Pictures: Major, major independent studio with hits like "JFK" and "L.A. Confidential." (a damn good movie)
